Greetings WESTOP Members,
Are you interested in leading WESTOP at the regional level? Do you know of someone who would be a great leader for our organization? If you answered “YES”,
please complete the attached nomination form!
This year WESTOP is accepting nominations for the following positions:
Position terms are from July 1, 2011 -June 30, 2012.
Please note that WESTOP nominations and elections are open to all paid voting members.

Nominations & Elections Description
If you are new to WESTOP or need a refresher on the nomination and elections process, please take a moment to read the brief synopsis below regarding what occurs during WESTOP nominations and elections and what the positions entail.
Every year elections take place at the WESTOP Annual Conference. Prior to the conference nominations are solicited. At the conference candidates are provided the opportunity to speak to the membership regarding their qualifications and motivation for running
for the desired position, this process takes during the “Candidates Forum”. After the forum, the polls open and all WESTOP paid voting members are encouraged to vote.
All board terms are aligned with the WESTOP fiscal year: July 1-June 30. Individuals elected at the WESTOP conference will not officially take on their roles until July 1, 2011. The following is a list of the Board position descriptions and terms; additional

Terms: Article IV-Directors
Powers and Duties: Article VII-Officers
President-Elect: To work closely with the President to acquire the skills, competencies, and knowledge of WESTOP objectives, activities, procedures, and services; in case of the absence or disability of the President, to temporarily exercise all the
powers and perform all the duties of the President; in case of vacancy of the Presidency, to succeed to the office of the President for the remainder of that term of office as well as for his/her subsequent term of
office as President; to preside over the Service Council; generally to exercise such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by the Board; to perform other duties as assigned
by the President as needed.
Secretary:
To keep a book of minutes at the principal office of the corporation, or at such other place as the Board may direct, of all meetings of the Board, Service Council, and of Members, with
the time and place of holding, whether annual, regular, special, or adjourned, and, if special, how authorized, the notice thereof given, the names of those present at Board meetings, and number of Voting Members present in person or by proxy at Members' meetings,
and the proceedings of such meetings; to keep the seal of the corporation, if the corporation has a seal, and to affix
the seal to all instruments which may require it; to keep or cause to be kept at the principal office of the corporation a current list of Voting Members containing the name, address
and voting rights of each Voting Member and any other information which the Board may direct to be kept in such list; to give, serve or publish notices of all Board meetings and Members' meetings and all other notices that may be necessary or proper, and without
command or direction from anyone. In case of the absence, disability, refusal, or neglect of the Secretary to serve or publish any notices, then such notices may be served and/or published by the President or the President Elect, or by any person authorized
to do so by either of them or by the Board; to perform the duties assigned to the Secretary in Article X of these bylaws; generally to perform all such duties as pertain to the office of Secretary and as may be required by the Board. In case of the vacancy
of the Secretary, a member shall be appointed by the President with the consent of a majority of the directors. To perform other duties as assigned by the President as needed.
Chapter Presidents: Serve as the liaison between the Chapter and the Board of Directors; prepares reports regarding Chapter functions and balance. The chapter presidents are to also serve in the same capacity as the president of WESTOP at the chapter
level. Typically this position is voted on at the chapter level as a president-elect and formally at the board of director’s level at the conference.

All leadership positions at the chapter level, with the exception of chapter president, are completed according to chapter timelines. Please contact your Chapter President if
you are interested in Chapter leadership positions.
