Subject: House Subcommittee Marks Up Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Bill

Dear TRIO Colleagues: This evening, the House Appropriations Subcommittee for Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education marked up its FY 2011 spending bill. The Subcommittee did not release any specific figures other than those that appear on the following sheet: http://appropriations.house.gov/images/stories/pdf/lhhse/FY2011_LHHS_Summary_Tabel-07.15.2010.pdf. It is our understanding, however, that TRIO received an appropriation of $878.7 million, which represents a $25.6 million (or 3%) increase; meanwhile, GEAR UP received level-funding. Please be on the lookout for additional updates and instructions once the Council confirms these figures. Thank you for you continued work on behalf of low-income, first-generation students.
