Greetings
Everyone
Here’s
a great opportunity for our TRiO students currently in high school.
I
would like to remind you that Congressman Nunes spoke at our TRiO Day event and
I would like to think that he would enjoy to see some of our students at least
apply for this opportunity. I’m not familiar with the program but
if you visit his website, there should be more information. Best of luck
and let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Subject: Seeking Students for the House Page Program
Dear Friends,
I am
pleased to now be accepting applications for the fall 2010 term of the U.S.
House of Representatives Page Program.
The
Page Program provides a unique and
life-changing opportunity for young people interested in learning
about the legislative process in our nation’s capital. House Pages are
sponsored by Members of Congress but they are not employed in any particular
Representative's office. Instead, they work as a team on the House floor assisting
all Members of Congress.
The
fall 2010 Page Program begins on Monday, September 6, and ends when Congress
adjourns for the Christmas break. For the duration of the Page term,
participating students are required to reside in the Page Hall under the supervision
of proctors. Page Hall rooms are shared and include a study area, private
bathroom, air conditioning and toll-controlled telephone. The Page Hall also
includes several community areas including a living room with television,
kitchen and pantry, laundry room, study room, computer room, and fitness room.
Prospective
Pages for the fall program must be high school juniors, 16 years of age and
no older than 17 years of age for the duration of the program. A
minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is also required. Full program details can be
found here (download
application). Pages will remain academically current through the House of
Representatives Page School, with faculty support appropriate for eleventh
grade coursework.
Pages are paid employees of
the House of Representatives. They are an essential part of House operations
and must be willing to place on hold all family activities, as well as school
and community activities for the duration of the term.
Applications for the fall
program are due to my office July 19, 2010.
If you have questions about
the program, please
visit my website or call my office 559-733-3861.
Sincerely,
Devin Nunes
MEMBER OF CONGRESS
