About the SAGE Scholars Program

SAGE Scholars are extraordinary academically high-achieving
undergraduates who come from very low income backgrounds and various
academic disciplines. The SAGE (Student Achievement Guided by
Experience) Scholars Program enriches and empowers its students'
academic education by providing executive level training through
classes and workshops and real-word experience through corporate
sponsored internships. The SAGE Scholars Program is a unique and
small program on the UC Berkeley campus that works closely with
faculty and staff as well as leaders in major Bay Area companies.

SAGE Scholars funding and volunteer support comes from corporations,
foundations and individual donors who help enrich the program by
providing opportunities for our students to mentor other students,
gain scholarships, internships, and professional and career
development skills not afforded to students of this socioeconomic
level. SAGE presently works with 34 students and plans to increase
the number of students to 40 in 2008-'09 and 50 in 2009-'10.
