>Description:		The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. >Under the general direction of the Associate Director and Director of the Center for Educational Partnerships (CEP), the incumbent will be responsible for implementing Upward Bound (UB) activities in order to meet each individual objective described in the Upward Bound grant. The Center for Educational Partnerships provides support to faculty, staff and outreach groups to work collaboratively with schools, universities and colleges to promote an educational pipeline for success for all students.

>Specific objectives of this position include:

>*Ensure that UCM CEP UB identifies and selects 50 participants each year (100 in Year 1). At least 70% are low-income and first generation; at least 30% are either low-income or first generation and high academic risk for failure.

>*Ensure that at least 50% of the 11th grade participants [in Years 3, 4, and 5] score above the 50th percentile in Mathematics and/or English Language Arts areas on the Standardized Testing and Reporting program (STAR).
>
>*Ensure that at least 75% of freshmen UB participants attain a 2.00 cumulative GPA; at least 75% of sophomores attain a 2.25 cumulative GPA; at least 75% of juniors attain a 2.50 cumulative GPA; at least 75% of seniors attain a cumulative 2.75; and at least 30% of the total participants attain a 3.00 cumulative GPA.

>*Ensure that 85% of UB participants are retained in the program and graduate from high school (excluding those who graduate, transfer, move out of the target area, or exit for reasons of health or death).
